Computational Mechanics and Materials Research

Computational mechanics and materials research at UCR focuses on the development of computational methodology for the analysis of multi-physics systems and material properties at various length scales. The research objective is to pursue understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of the complex physical phenomena as well as the development of computer aided design tools for broad engineering applications. Current research projects include:

  • Electromagnetic and acoustic wav propagation in interdigital transducers.
  • Dislocation nucleation from the crack tip and brittle to ductile transitions.
  • Hydraulic fracturing.
  • Debonding and fracturing in composite materials.
  • Three dimensional fracture growth
