Efficient and rapid mixing in a slip-driven three-dimensional flow in a rectangular channel

Abstract

Mixing of a blob of a solute in a slip-driven three-dimensional flow in a rectangular channel is studied. For large width-to-height aspect ratio channels, this serves as a good model for mixing in electroosmotic flows in a three-dimensional channel. It is demonstrated that under certain conditions, efficient and rapid mixing can be achieved. A method to implement this operating condition in electroosmotic flow is also proposed.
