Welcome
to the Mechanical Engineering Department at University of
California, Riverside.
We offer educational programs leading to B.S.,
M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering, and the department
hosts nearly 400 undergraduate students and 70 graduate students.
Please use the links on the main page to access the detailed
information on our graduate and undergraduate programs.
The department is rapidly expanding, currently
with 15 faculty members, including Distinguished Professor Reza
Abbaschian, the Dean of the Bourns College of Engineering. Our
faculty’s research activities span the broad areas of biomedical and
health science, fluid and thermal science, design and information
computation, mechanics and materials, and nano-structured materials
and nanotechnology. I invite you to visit the individual home pages
of our faculty members for more specific information about their
backgrounds, interests and academic activities. We are actively
recruiting outstanding candidates for tenured and tenure-tracked
faculty as well as part-time lecturer appointments. The detailed
information can be found using the link – POSITIONS on the main
page.
The department has excellent facilities and
laboratories, including the following:
College of Engineering Machine Shop
Air Quality Modeling Group
Computational Mechanics & Materials Lab
Biomaterials and Nanotechnology Laboratory
Laboratory for Environmental Flow Modeling
Laboratory of Transport Phenomena for
Biomedical Applications
Nano Mechanics and Materials Laboratory
The new Materials Science and Engineering
building will add over 70,000 square feet of research and
instructional space for programs in nanotechnology, materials
science and bioengineering.
