(02/05/2008) 3rd Annual Mechanical Engineering Graduate Research Symposium

MEGSA is calling for abstracts for the third ME Graduate Research Symposium which will be held on March 7th, 2008. The Symposium will be featured with Oral presentations by one ME Graduate Student from every research group and Over 40 ME graduate and undergraduate research posters, Invited presentations and Industry displays.

(11/26/2007) Fall quarter General Meeting

Agenda:

- Introduce MEGSA to the large group of new graduate students

- Introduce MEGSA officer positions and resposibilities

- Recruit new officers

- Discussing the tentative plan for snow trip to Mountain High.

(09/28/2007) Mechanical Engineering Department BBQ

MEGSA will organize a department BBQ at the beginning of the fall quarter to welcome the new students under the full support from the department.

(06/08/2007)MEGSA Co-hosts 2nd BCOE End of Year Banquet and Ball

MEGSA will co-hosts the 2nd BCOE End of Year Banquet and Ball and is in charge of logistics and Banquet setting up. The program will include a welcome from Dean Abbaschian, presentations from the co-hosting organizations, a presentation by the Leadership Council on student/organization accomplishments from this past year, and prizes awarded to outstanding organizations and individuals.

- End of year report from former President Sander Li

- Announce new MEGSA officers

- Co-host 2nd College of Engineering Leadership Council End of Year Banquet and Ball.

- Applying a club room for MEGSA.

(09/08/2007) 2nd Annual Mechanical Engineering Graduate Research Symposium

Eight oral presentations by ME Graduate Students and Over 20 ME graduate and undergraduate research posters on display, Invited presentations and Industry displays, Lunch and Award ceremony Dinner.

(1/08/2007) BCOE T-Shirt Available for Pick up

The BCOE T-shirt designed by MEGSA were ready for pick up in room B342A from 12:30-2 pm daily. If anybody could not pick up theirr shirt at that time,  other arrangements were made to deliver the shirts to those who paid for it.

(12/02/2006) Go-Carting: End of Quarter Stress Reliever

Go-Carting at Pole Position Raceway in Corona . 11 out of 12 participants raced, total race time was roughly around 10 minutes. Total waiting time was about 1hr 30 mins. It was a fun activity and all 11 of us who raced enjoyed ourselves. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and the place was busy as a big party of people were there.

(10/3/2006) Welcome Get-together for Fall 2006 New ME Grads

 

On behalf of the MEGSA, a warm welcome get -together was arranged for our new graduate students,  where they got acquainted with fellow ME grads, hung out, and enjoyed some fish tacos at Rubio's at University Village (click here for directions) on Tuesday, October 3rd at  6:30pm.Also there was a tentative plan to go bowling after Rubio's at Brunswick Bowling (click on the link for a map) in Moreno Valley for a fun game of bowling!

(06/02/2006) MEGSA Co-hosts BCOE End of Year Banquet and Ball

MEGSA co-hosts the Bourns College of Engineering End of Year Banquet and Ball, which will take place on June 2nd, 2006. This year the EoY Banquet and Ball is sponsored by the BCOE Leadership Council and co-hosted by ASME, IEEE, SWE and MEGSA. The program will include a welcome from Dean Abbaschian, presentations from the co-hosting organizations, a presentation by the Leadership Council on student/organization accomplishments from this past year, and prizes awarded to outstanding organizations and individuals. (03/16/06) Mechanical Engineering Graduate Student Syposium Call for Abstracts

Dear M.E. Faculty and Graduate Students, This is the official CALL FOR ABSTRACTS for the 1st annual Mechanical Engineering Graduate Student Symposium! The oral presenters will submit a 200-300 word abstract and the poster presenters will submit a 100-150 wordabstract, due on Wednesday, April 5th by 5:00pm. The abstracts shall be submitted electronically on Wednesday,April 5th to Tao Zhan at tzhan[at]engr.ucr.edu. Please be prompt with your abstract submissions so we can organize the event and work on the symposium brochures to provide information to the invited industry leaders in the Southern California region.

Important Information: We suggest that the oral presentations provide a general overview of your research group and also provide information about your personal research if you wish. The posters will include information about your personal research. I want to thank the research groups who have contacted me with their information regarding their oral presenter and poster presenters. I will email you shortly if I have not received your research groups' information.

(03/04/2006) MEGSA was voted into the Bourns College of Engineering(BCOE) Leadership Council.

(03/04/2006) MEGSA participates at the Corona-Norco Unified School District Science and Engineering Fair:

MEGSA was invited to present an Honorary Award at the Corona-Norco Unified School District Science and Engineering Fair. The event was for 4-12th graders in the Corona/Norco School District and took place on Saturday, March 4th, 2006 at the Norco High School Gym. The project which most demonstrated an aptitude for engineering was awarded. The award was a certificate and a $100 bill, which was donated by CalDraulics Incorporated. The certificate was signed by Chancellor of UCR, Dean of College of Engineering, Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and President of MEGSA. MEGSA was the only organization/company to volunteer this year. [pictures]
