Several projects that involve the use of diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and Infrared Imaging for clinical applications will be presented. These projects resulted from a collaboration between the Institute of Optical Communications and the School of Medicine of the San Luis Potosi Autonomous University, San Luis Potosi, Mexico.


Javier González is an Associate Professor of Physics and Engineering at San Luis Potosi Autonomous University, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He received a BS in Electrical Engineering from ITESO University, Guadalajara, Mexico, and a MS and PhD from School of Optics/CREOL, University of Central Florida, Orlando, Florida.

Dr. González has published more than 25 journal articles and holds 2 patents in the areas of infrared detectors and applications of physics and engineering in medicine and biology.

Dr. González is a Member of the Mexican Academy of Science.
