Machine Shop

The Machine Shop specializes in design, research, development of experimental apparatus, medical devices, and scientific equipment. The shop’s capabilities consist of complete design of fabrication of complex three-dimensional surfaces. Including wind tunnel models, scientific apparatuses, 3-D mathematical models, precision tooling, structural weldments, robotic devices, pressure vessels, stress analysis, strain gaging, design assistance, sheet metal, plastic, and wood structures.

The Machine Shop is nearly 4,100 square feet and broken down into four areas:

For initial access to the Machine Shop

Please complete the Laboratory Safety Training in the Learning Management System https://ucrlearning.ucr.edu/

Users of the UC Learning Center who are not UCR Employees or Contingent Workers should see the Supplemental Access Box before logging on for the first time. 

*Please note that newly created profiles will not be able to access lab safety training until the following day, as the nightly data sync will place new users in the appropriate learning track.  If you are unsure about which user access path you should please use the flowchart

Upon completing of the course with a passing grade, you will need to upload proof of completion ( either scan or take a picture of the completion) and upload here Proof Of Training

Users will also need to read and sign the Machine Shop Rules and Agreement Form and upload the signed form here: Signed Agreement

Pass the General Shop Safety Test

 

For those that require additional access to the MEDDL/Makers Space, completion of Laser Safety training in LMS is required.

Additionally, requesting users must read and sign all Safe Operating Procedures and upload them here

All forms, SOPs, and transcripts should be saved by Last Name, First Name within the Google folders.

Once complete, please send an email to MEMS@engr.ucr.edu, we will review your transcripts and agreements for completion prior to granting access.
