Machine Shop

The Machine Shop, located in Bourns Hall, B-Wing Room B155, specializes in design, research, development of experimental apparatus, and prototype equipment. The shop’s capabilities consist of complete design of fabrication of two- to three-dimensional surfaces, including precision tooling, structural weldments, design assistance, sheet metal and plastic structures.

For initial access to the Machine Shop

  1. Please complete the Laboratory Safety Training and Laser Safety Training in the Learning Management System https://ucrlearning.ucr.edu/
    Users of the UC Learning Center who are not UCR Employees or Contingent Workers should see the Supplemental Access Box before logging on for the first time. 
    *Please note that newly created profiles will not be able to access lab safety training until the following day, as the nightly data sync will place new users in the appropriate learning track.  If you are unsure about which user access path you should please use the flowchart
  2. Upon completing of the course with a passing grade, you will need to upload proof of completion ( either scan or take a picture of the completion) and upload here Proof Of Training (Certificates are not acceptable proof, transcripts only)
  3. Users will also need to read and sign all MEMS safety docs and agreements and upload here MEMS SOP Signed
  4. Pass the General Shop Safety Test
  5. Once complete, please send an email to mems@engr.ucr.edu, we will review your transcripts and agreements for completion prior to granting access.
